On Wednesday, February 12, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners formally approved Board Order 20-14, which seeks voter approval for the formation of a special library district on the May 2014 ballot. In addition to funding the libraries, this special district would transfer management of the libraries from the County Commissioners to an independently elected Board.  The five members of the Board will also be selected in the May 2014 election. A political action committee, Libraries for All, has been formed to support the campaign for the Library district.
